Since I was young, I have had an innate skill in connecting and communicating with people in any setting and sharing stories. One of the formats renowned for storytelling that I was fond of was video. In fact the first job I had, with the help of my Dad, I recorded and edited my younger brother’s football season into a film and then sold it to the parents to look back on.
Once I graduated high-school, my Dad advised me to pursuit something that I was passionate about. So I decided to study film and screen media production down at Griffith Film school in Brisbane.
Trials & Tribulations
With no real clear job pathway in the film industry, during the 3 years study I trialled many industries within the screen media industry including film, documentary, YouTube, sports broadcasting and NEWS with a hope of realising what I wanted to do in the industry by the time it came to graduating.
I enjoyed success in all of those industries and was offered full-time work in three regional markets as a cameraman for WIN news. Though it didn’t light me up like I had hoped it would.
At the same time I had done a couple of videos for business owners I knew and the response I received from them gave me a sense that I could provide real value doing that for other businesses too.
I decided to turn down the full-time work in a pursuit of freelance video production. Sharing stories that I wanted to see in the community – I graduated in 2018 and haven’t looked back since.
I am constantly learning and growing and have served businesses in multiple industries creating various types of videos.
Helping my customers get clear on their story and utilise the video production services I provide to communicate it and connect with their community.
My Core Values
I operate by five main principles personally and with my work…
My work is meaningful and the relationships I have with my customers is as well. So before I move forward with any project I need to know that there can be mutual transparency and respect for each other in alignment with the goal at hand.
Creativity is what I help my customers with. Some ideas my customers have are less refined than others, and rather than “jumping off and making the parachute on the way down” I take the time to nurture their ideas and the purpose relative to the task at hand. I love to find creative ways to share their message to their audience that is engaging but also achievable with the resources at hand.
I want to make creativity a simple process for my customers to achieve. So to ensure that, I have clear workflow processes, efficient communication systems as well as clear references and timelines in place. So my customers are comfortable and at ease throughout the project as well as making sure we stay on budget too.
At every opportunity I want to exceed my customers expectations. Going above and beyond to help realise the ideas they have and providing as much value as possible.
My work is about capturing and sharing the real you. I’m not here to create anything that is going to be misleading otherwise I’d have stayed in NEWS. I want to work with people who are going to make a positive impact on the broader community. People, businesses and brands that have clearly defined values and stick to them in their work.
